New To S.A.A. ?

Shalimar Athletic Association is a non-profit, all Volunteer organization. The Board of Directors is currently made up of 7 members. S.A.A. currently offers Dixie Youth Baseball and Softball during the spring, and Flag and Tackle Football as well as Cheerleading during the fall. The organization relies solely on donations and sponsorships make the league run at the level it should.

We are very excited to join the Dixie Youth Baseball/Softball organization. By joining Dixie Youth, this will give Shalimar Youth Baseball the ability to compete with six other communities that have very similar talent pools to choose from. This will allow for us to compete not only within our organization, but to bring teams in from our district to play at our park during the week. This is a big advantage, especially if we are lacking with the number of kids in a particular league. At that point we can rotate in a team from close by to give the kids an opportunity to play someone other than the same teams over and over. There will also be an event called "Saturday at the Park." This is a Saturday tournament that each community within the district one Saturday throughout the season. This also will help serve as a fundraiser for our organization as there will be many teams coming in to play at our park.

The age breakdown of our leagues allows for us to provide a very competitve playing field for the kids. We keep the age group very close together to ensure that the competition is very even, without an older age gropu dominating another.

With Dixie Youth, we will put an emphasis on Tee Ball. This is the area where leagues are built. Tee Ball will have the option to travel on the weekends as well as play in All Star events post season. We will keep track of outs, and put an emphasis on fundamentals as well as defense, but everyone will have the opportunity to hit each inning. Our goal is to have these kids ready and game knowledgable when the get to Rookie ball.

All teams, when chosen, will be kept as even as possible. We do not and will not stack teams!!!! Shalimar Youth Baseball has a system in place to keep politics out of the draft and team assignment process. Dixie Youth will also monitor this area to keep things as competitive as possible.
Each team will play 2-3 games a week throughout the season. All practices and times will be strictly up to the coaches.

The season will start mid March, and run through late May to early June. At that time, All Stars will be chosen by input from the coaches in that particular league.

We are also very proud to have teams from Hulburt Field participating in our league!
